It seems that entroy – according to [[Brian Greene]]'s explanation in video tktktk is thus: Low variability in relationships, ratios between variables (distance between atomic nuclei) equals low entroy. A 3D lattice of atoms where every atom is on a perfect grid, all have the same distance, that is ordered, that is low entropy.

You can describe their relationship with few informational bits.

I am yet to understand how entropy is decoupled from the human understanding of order and regularity. It seems very anthropocentric. But I know that this is at least in part due to my lack of understanding the maths behind it.

[[I will never understand reality]]

It has to do with the amount of information encoded in the situation – the amount of data required to describe the pattern. And therein lies the rub. The pattern we see and recognize might not – on a more fundamental level – be the simplest, most ordered.

You don't need a lot of information to describe a system with low entropy – Brian Greene, Darkness Visible: Shedding New Light on Black Holes

Describing each and every position of a particle as opposed to just describing a grid – a regular pattern – is… worlds apart in terms of information amount, but the pattern behind it… → I am jumping now, but this is where we look for a [[GUT]]. It seems that [[t.the search for a grand unified theory is the search for confirmation that our universe is ultimately of supremely low entropy]]

We only need a slight(ish) variation in our dopamine circuit to see paterns where there are none, re. [[schizophrenia]] at the extreme, and [[pareidolia]] which every. single. human. ever. is familiar with.
